Experiments with art and forms of protests

The Art of Protest (Beginners) invites you to experiment with theatrical means and forms of protest. Together with ASJA & Jonathan Schmidt-Colinet and invited guests from activism and theater, you will venture into public protest, and design, rehearse and discuss creative contributions for public expression.

On six Saturdays from September 2022 to February 2023, we will explore theatrical means (costume, voice, props etc.), learn about the practices of invited protest experts and about historical examples of different forms of protest. We will then proceed to develop protest contributions and try them out in the public space until the next meeting: for example with a poster at a climate strike, a choir against police violence, a costume for affordable housing or a dance for bodily autonomy…

Initiated by: ASJA (she/her) and Jonathan Schmidt-Colinet (he/him)

Invited experts: El (fStreik Frankfurt), GRUP, Aktivistin von IGL21, ECHOKAMMER, André Armin Hegner (artivist at „Deutsche Wohnen und Co enteignen“)
